CHATEAU MAUCAMPS

Château Maucamps is a historic Bordeaux wine estate situated in the Haut-Médoc appellation of southwestern France’s famed Bordeaux region. The property dates back to the 18th century, with its first mention appearing in the influential Cocks & Féret wine guide of 1850, underscoring its long winemaking tradition.

The estate covers about 22.5 hectares of vineyards planted on classic clay-gravel soils near the village of Macau, just south of the Margaux area on the Left Bank near the Garonne River. Its terroir is typical of Haut-Médoc, providing excellent drainage and contributing to the structure and finesse of its wines.

Château Maucamps focuses on producing red Bordeaux wines from the classic Médoc blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot, with Cabernet Sauvignon usually dominant. These wines are often noted for their balanced structure, ripe dark fruit character, and the potential for ageing, showcasing aromas of blackcurrant, cedar, spice and sometimes subtle earthy notes, with silky tannins and a lingering finish.

The estate embraces sustainable farming practices and careful winemaking, with hand harvesting, temperature-controlled fermentation and judicious oak ageing (often with a portion of new barrels) to maintain freshness while adding complexity. Many vintages from Château Maucamps have been recognised for their quality and ageing potential, reflecting both tradition and contemporary winemaking precision in the Haut-Médoc.
