CHATEAU LAFLEUR GAZIN

Château Lafleur-Gazin is a highly regarded estate located in the Pomerol appellation on Bordeaux’s Right Bank. Nestled between two of the region’s most iconic names — Château Lafleur and Château Gazin — the property enjoys an exceptional terroir that produces wines of depth, elegance, and supple charm.

The château has been under the management of Établissements Jean-Pierre Moueix, one of Bordeaux’s most respected wine families, since 1976. The Moueix family, who also manage estates such as Château La Fleur-Pétrus and Trotanoy, has brought meticulous vineyard care, precise winemaking, and a focus on expressing the unique character of each site.

Château Lafleur-Gazin’s vineyards cover around 8.5 hectares, planted primarily to Merlot (about 80%) with Cabernet Franc making up the remainder. The soils consist of gravel, clay, and sand, typical of Pomerol, providing both richness and finesse to the wines. The Merlot contributes plush texture and ripe fruit, while Cabernet Franc adds structure, freshness, and aromatic complexity.

The wine of Château Lafleur-Gazin is known for its refined and balanced style, offering aromas of plum, blackberry, and violet, with hints of truffle and spice as it matures. On the palate, it is silky and generous, yet maintains the hallmark elegance and restraint of classic Pomerol. Aging typically occurs in French oak barrels (about 30% new), enhancing texture and depth without overwhelming the fruit.

Château Lafleur-Gazin represents excellent value within Pomerol, combining the pedigree of its prime location with the precision and care of the Moueix family. Its wines are approachable in youth yet capable of graceful aging, offering a pure and authentic expression of the Pomerol appellation.
