CHAMPAGNE SUENEN

Champagne Suenen is a highly regarded grower Champagne producer based in the Grand Cru village of Cramant in the Côte des Blancs sub-region of Champagne, France.

Suenen’s history traces back to 1898, when the Suenen family, originally from Belgium, moved to Cramant and began trading grapes. The estate began producing its own bottled wine in 1924, but it was under the leadership of Aurélien Suenen (who took over in 2009) that the domaine shifted toward a deep terroir-driven, organic viticulture philosophy. Aurélien phased out chemical use, reduced yields drastically, and embraced organic and biodynamic practices to better express the chalky soils and unique character of the vineyards.

Champagne Suenen farms just over 3 hectares of vines, primarily in Grand Cru villages such as Cramant, Chouilly and Oiry, and produces a range of Blanc de Blancs Champagnes that are celebrated for their precision, texture, minerality and sense of place. Their lineup includes both village blends and single-vineyard vintage releases, some of which are the only pure Oiry bottles on the market — valued for their tension, salinity and crystalline expression of terroir. Suenen’s Champagnes are often described as some of the most textural and intensely mineral in the northern Côte des Blancs and are frequently compared with wines from top growers in the region.
