YARRA YERING
Yarra Yering is a distinguished winery located in the Yarra Valley, Victoria, Australia. Established in 1969 by Dr. Bailey Carrodus, it played a pivotal role in reviving winemaking in the region after a period of dormancy. Dr. Carrodus, with a PhD in plant physiology from Oxford, planted the first vines in 1969, leading to the inaugural vintage in 1973.
The winery is renowned for its iconic Dry Red Wine No. 1, a Bordeaux-style blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, and Petit Verdot, and Dry Red Wine No. 2, a Shiraz-based blend. Over the years, Yarra Yering has expanded its portfolio to include varietals such as Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Viognier.
Following Dr. Carrodus’s passing in 2008, Sarah Crowe took over as winemaker in 2013. Under her guidance, the winery has garnered numerous accolades, including being named Winery of the Year by The Real Review in 2021 and 2024, and by Halliday Wine Companion in 2022.
