SAMI-ODI

Sami-Odi is a highly regarded boutique winery located in the Barossa Valley, South Australia. Founded and run by winemaker Fraser McKinley, the estate has earned a cult reputation for producing exceptional small-batch Syrah wines that reflect purity, precision, and a deep sense of place. McKinley, who manages nearly every aspect of production himself, follows a philosophy of minimal intervention, working with organically farmed fruit and emphasizing natural expression through whole-bunch fermentation, gentle handling, and minimal sulfur additions.

Production at Sami-Odi is intentionally tiny — typically around a thousand cases per year — which has made its wines among the most sought-after in Australia. The winery’s portfolio includes several standout bottlings such as Hoffmann Dallwitz Syrah, sourced from ancient vines in the iconic Hoffmann vineyard; Little Wine, a multi-vintage Syrah blend that showcases balance and complexity across years; and Our Hill Syrah, produced from McKinley’s own vineyard in Angaston, Eden Valley. Each wine reflects a meticulous attention to detail and the individuality of its vineyard source.

Over the years, Sami-Odi has developed a devoted following among collectors and wine lovers for its authenticity, elegance, and rarity. With limited releases and a long waiting list for allocations, securing a bottle has become a mark of distinction for serious enthusiasts. While the winery does not operate a public cellar door, its wines can occasionally be found through exclusive retailers, select importers, or directly via its allocation mailing list.
