The 2022 Bubb + Pooley Pinot Noir is an elegant and expressive cool-climate Pinot Noir from Tasmania’s Coal River Valley, created by husband-and-wife winemaking team Justin Bubb and Anna Pooley. Sourced from three vineyards across the Coal River Valley, the fruit was hand-picked and wild fermented with 10% whole bunches before maturation in a combination of concrete and French oak puncheons.
On the palate, it is refined and vibrant, showing dark cherry, raspberry and blackberry alongside violet, dried rose, gentle spice and subtle earthy characters. Fine yet structured tannins are balanced by fresh cool-climate acidity, while the restrained use of oak allows the purity of the fruit and Coal River Valley character to remain at the forefront. The wine finishes long, fresh and mineral, combining impressive flavour with elegance rather than excess.
