The 2025 Frankland Estate Franc is an expressive Frankland River red showing raspberry, redcurrant and blackberry alongside violet, fresh herbs, subtle pepper and earthy spice. Its cool-climate Great Southern character brings bright fruit, aromatic lift and natural freshness, while savoury herbal notes give the wine a distinctive Cabernet Franc profile.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied and energetic, with vibrant acidity, fine-grained tannins and layers of red and dark fruit. Raspberry and redcurrant are complemented by blackberry, leafy herbs, subtle spice and gentle mineral notes, creating a detailed and savoury mid-palate. The texture is supple and focused, with fine tannins providing structure without overwhelming the fresh fruit. The finish is dry, fresh and persistent, leaving lingering red berries, herbs and a delicate earthy character.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is an excellent choice for Cabernet Franc drinkers who enjoy aromatic cool-climate reds with freshness, fine tannins and savoury complexity. It is approachable in its youth but has enough structure to develop additional herbal and earthy character with bottle age. Best enjoyed over the next 4–7 years. Pair with herb-crusted lamb, roast duck with lentils, pork tenderloin with sage, chargrilled steak with chimichurri, or roasted beetroot and lentil salad with goat’s cheese.
