The 2017 Frankland Estate Isolation Ridge Vineyard Riesling Museum Release is a mature expression of Frankland River Riesling, showing preserved lemon, lime and green apple alongside white flowers, citrus peel, honeyed notes and fine stony minerality. Extended bottle age has added layers of savoury and developed character while retaining the wine’s underlying freshness and precision.
On the palate, it is focused and beautifully textured, with vibrant acidity carrying mature citrus, lemon curd and orchard-fruit flavours through the palate. Subtle honey, dried floral, herbal and mineral notes add complexity, while a delicate saline character provides tension and length. The wine has developed a more rounded and savoury profile with age, yet remains energetic and finely balanced. The finish is dry, long and persistent, with lingering citrus, mineral and lightly honeyed notes.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this Museum Release is an excellent choice for Riesling collectors and drinkers who appreciate mature Australian Riesling with developed complexity and refreshing acidity. The 2017 vintage is drinking beautifully now and offers a different dimension from a young Riesling, with bottle-aged texture and savoury depth. Best enjoyed now or over the next 5–8 years. Serve chilled with oysters, smoked trout, kingfish crudo, roast chicken with preserved lemon, Thai green papaya salad, or aged goat’s cheese.
