DOMAINE VACHERON

Domaine Vacheron stands as one of Sancerre’s most respected and storied estates. Founded over 120 years ago with a single hectare of vineyard, it has grown under the stewardship of successive Vacheron generations. Today it spans 47 hectares across prime limestone and flinty parcels in the Sancerre appellation  . Run by cousins Jean‑Laurent and Jean‑Dominique Vacheron as the fourth generation, the domaine has embraced a fully biodynamic approach since around 2005, eschewing synthetic materials and relying on compost and hand-harvested, low-yielding fruit.

Their winemaking philosophy is Burgundian in its precision: fruit from individual parcels is vinified separately, with whites aged in a combination of large oak casks and stainless steel, reflecting the diversity of soils—limestone, flint, and marl—in their 2020 and 2023 blends  . Domaine Vacheron produces classic, terroir-driven Sauvignon Blanc and an elegant Pinot Noir rosé and red, the latter gaining recognition as one of the few red Sancerres that match the quality of the whites.

Domaine Vacheron blends heritage and biodynamic rigor to create some of Sancerre’s most compelling expressions of Sauvignon Blanc—and noteworthy Pinot Noir. Their wines are mineral, precise, and age-worthy.
