Le Battistelle is one of Soave's most highly regarded family-owned wineries, renowned for producing elegant, terroir-driven wines that showcase the exceptional potential of Garganega. Founded by the brothers Giorgio and Claudio Danese, Le Battistelle is dedicated exclusively to the production of Soave. The estate farms some of the highest vineyards in the appellation, particularly around the renowned Monte Rocca and Brognoligo crus. These elevated sites benefit from excellent sun exposure, cool evening temperatures, and low yields, allowing the grapes to develop outstanding aromatic complexity while retaining vibrant natural acidity.
The vineyards are planted on ancient volcanic basalt soils, one of the defining characteristics of the finest Soave wines. These mineral-rich soils contribute remarkable freshness, saline tension, and distinctive flinty notes that set Le Battistelle apart from more commercial expressions of Soave.
Le Battistelle specialises in Soave Classico and single-vineyard bottlings made predominantly from Garganega, with small proportions of Trebbiano di Soave where permitted. The wines display aromas of lemon, white peach, pear, chamomile, almond blossom, fresh herbs, and subtle volcanic minerality. On the palate, they are precise, textured, and beautifully balanced, combining citrus freshness, layered complexity, and a long mineral finish with excellent ageing potential.
The winery follows a philosophy centred on sustainable viticulture, meticulous vineyard management, and minimal intervention in the cellar. Hand harvesting, gentle pressing, temperature-controlled fermentation, and extended lees ageing preserve the purity of the fruit while allowing each vineyard to express its unique terroir. Oak influence is kept to a minimum, ensuring freshness and mineral character remain the focus.
