ALAIN CHAVY
Domaine Alain Chavy is a respected Burgundy estate based in Puligny-Montrachet, known for producing precise, mineral-driven white wines that epitomize the village’s elegance and terroir purity.
Alain Chavy comes from a long-established winemaking family in Puligny. After working alongside his brother Jean-Louis at their family estate, Domaine Gérard Chavy, the two decided to divide the holdings in 2003, each founding their own domaine. Alain retained several of the family’s prized parcels, including sites in Puligny-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières, Les Pucelles, and Les Clavoillons, among others.
The style of Domaine Alain Chavy is one of restraint and finesse. The wines are characterized by clarity, tension, and precise expression of limestone terroir—leaner and more structured than many of their richer Puligny counterparts. Alain’s minimalist approach in the cellar involves cool fermentation, extended lees aging, and limited new oak, allowing the terroir to take center stage.
Today, Alain’s wines are considered benchmark examples of modern Puligny-Montrachet, admired by collectors and sommeliers alike for their age-worthiness and crystalline balance.
