HEATHCOTE
Heathcote is one of Australia’s most distinctive wine regions, located in Victoria, Australia, renowned for producing some of the country’s most powerful yet balanced Shiraz. Positioned between Melbourne and Bendigo, Heathcote has gained a strong reputation for wines that combine richness with structure and elegance.
The region is defined by its unique Cambrian soils, ancient red soils that are over 500 million years old. These soils are low in fertility but excellent for drainage, forcing vines to work harder and resulting in low yields and intensely concentrated fruit.
Heathcote enjoys a warm climate moderated by cooling influences, allowing grapes to ripen fully while retaining balance. The region is best known for Shiraz, which typically shows blackberry, plum, dark chocolate and spice, with firm structure, depth and long ageing potential. In addition to Shiraz, Heathcote also produces quality Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon and emerging alternative varieties, offering a growing diversity of styles.
