The 2019 Heathcote Estate Shiraz Museum Release is a mature expression of one of Heathcote’s benchmark Shiraz producers. Established in 1999, Heathcote Estate sits on the region’s ancient Cambrian soils, renowned for producing Shiraz with concentrated dark fruit, spice and fine structure. The 2019 season was warm and fast-paced, with earlier picking helping retain freshness and balance in the finished wines.
The wine shows plum, blackberry and dark berry fruit with liquorice, spice and integrated oak complexity. The palate combines classic Heathcote richness with freshness, supple tannins and impressive depth. Bottle age has begun to soften the structure and introduce more savoury complexity while retaining the concentration and purity of the 2019 vintage.
Ben's Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this Museum Release is an excellent opportunity to experience Heathcote Shiraz with meaningful bottle age. Compared with a current release, the 2019 offers softer tannins and more developed savoury complexity while retaining its rich dark-fruited character. Enjoy now with a short decant or cellar for another 8–12+ years. Perfect with roast lamb, ribeye, slow-cooked beef, venison and other rich meat dishes.
