The 2023 Chalmers Fiano is an estate-grown Heathcote white made from the southern Italian Fiano variety. Grown on the region’s distinctive red Cambrian soils, it shows pineapple skin, alpine herbs and citrus with fennel seed, flinty mineral notes and subtle savoury complexity.
On the palate, it is textured and persistent with bright natural acidity, citrus pith and savoury herbal flavours. The wine is wild fermented and spends 10 months on lees in chestnut botte, stainless steel and old oak, adding texture without masking its freshness.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is a great choice for Fiano drinkers who enjoy textured, savoury whites with fresh acidity and mineral character. Enjoy now through around 2029 and pair with flathead and beurre blanc, grilled seafood, veal schnitzel, roast chicken or creamy pasta dishes.
