The 2023 Heathcote Estate Shiraz Gift Boxed is a single-vineyard Shiraz from the organically certified Heathcote Estate vineyard on Drummonds Lane. Grown on ancient Cambrian soils, it shows blackberry, dark plum and red fruits with spice, briar, earth and subtle vanillin oak, combining concentration with the freshness and structure typical of the site.
On the palate, it is full-bodied and structured with concentrated dark fruit, fresh acidity and ripe, grainy tannins. The 2023 was fermented in open fermenters with 20% whole bunches before maturation in 500-litre French oak puncheons, adding gentle spice and texture. The finish is long, savoury and persistent.
