The 2023 Chalmers Greco is an estate-grown Heathcote white made from Greco, a southern Italian variety originating in Campania. Grown on the distinctive red Cambrian soils of northern Heathcote, it shows ripe apple, white stone fruit and citrus with subtle spice, vanilla and flinty mineral notes.
On the palate, it is textured and concentrated with naturally bright acidity providing freshness and balance. Apple and stone fruit are joined by gentle spice, savoury oak and a chalky mineral character. The fruit is hand-picked and whole-bunch pressed, with wild fermentation followed by maturation on fine lees and in old French oak, adding texture without dominating the fruit.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is a great choice for drinkers who enjoy fuller, textured Italian-style whites with fresh acidity and savoury complexity. Pair with calamari, grilled fish, seafood risotto, roast chicken or creamy pasta dishes, and enjoy now or allow further bottle development.
