BARRINGWOOD

Barringwood Wines is a boutique, cool-climate producer based in north-west Tasmania, overlooking the picturesque Don River Valley near Devonport. Established in 1993, the original vineyard was planted on steep north-facing slopes that capture long sunlight hours and cool maritime breezes, ideal for producing wines with finesse, purity, and bright natural acidity. Today, Barringwood manages three vineyard sites — Lower Barrington, Evandale, and Cranbrook — each with distinct soil profiles and microclimates. The estate operates with a focus on sustainability, low yields, hand pruning, and minimal irrigation to ensure fruit quality and environmental integrity.

The vineyards are planted to a mix of classic and unique cool-climate varieties, including Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Pinot Meunier, and the rare aromatic grape Schönburger. These varieties thrive in Tasmania’s long, slow-ripening conditions, developing depth and complexity while retaining crisp acidity.

Barringwood Estate Chardonnay showcases whole-bunch pressing, wild-yeast fermentation, and maturation in French oak, achieving a balance of texture, minerality, and vibrant fruit. The Mill Block Pinot Noir highlights the estate’s cool-climate signature — bright red fruits, savoury spice, and silky tannins — while the Pinot Gris and Schönburger express the aromatic potential of Tasmania’s north-west.

arringwood has become one of Tasmania’s standout producers. Its wines are admired for their precision, elegance, and clarity, reflecting both the region’s unique terroir and the family’s dedication to thoughtful, sustainable viticulture. With its combination of craftsmanship and cool-climate purity, Barringwood continues to define the refined, modern face of Tasmanian wine.
