The 2009 Château Léoville Barton 3ème Grand Cru Classé en 1855 is a distinguished Saint-Julien from one of Bordeaux's most revered family-owned estates. Renowned for its traditional winemaking and exceptional longevity, Château Léoville Barton produced a beautifully structured wine in the 2009 vintage. The Cabernet Sauvignon-led blend opens with aromas of blackcurrant, black cherry and cassis, complemented by cedar, cigar box, graphite, tobacco leaf and subtle earthy spice.

On the palate, it is full-bodied with vibrant acidity and beautifully resolved tannins that reflect nearly two decades of careful bottle ageing. Flavours of ripe black fruits, cocoa, liquorice and savoury herbs are layered with mineral notes and well-integrated French oak, leading to a long, elegant finish. The wine combines the power expected of Saint-Julien with remarkable freshness and balance, making it an outstanding example of mature Left Bank Bordeaux.

Ben's Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is an exceptional choice for those seeking a mature classified Bordeaux from one of Saint-Julien's benchmark estates. Pair with roast lamb, beef fillet, venison, duck breast or aged hard cheeses. Drinking beautifully now after a gentle decant, it will continue to evolve gracefully over the next 10–15 years under ideal cellaring conditions.
