TOKAJ
Tokaj is one of the world’s most historic and prestigious wine regions, located in northeastern Hungary. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site, Tokaj is internationally renowned for producing Tokaji Aszú, one of the finest sweet wines in the world.
The region benefits from a unique combination of volcanic soils, a continental climate, and the influence of autumn mists from the Bodrog and Tisza rivers. These conditions promote the development of noble rot (Botrytis cinerea), which concentrates sugars and flavors in the grapes, essential for producing Tokaji’s iconic sweet wines.
Tokaj’s wines are primarily made from indigenous grape varieties such as Furmint, Hárslevelű, and Muscat. Tokaji Aszú wines are known for their richness and complexity, offering flavors of honey, apricot, citrus, and spice, balanced by vibrant acidity and exceptional aging potential. In addition to sweet wines, Tokaj is increasingly recognized for its dry Furmint wines, which are fresh, mineral-driven, and expressive.
As one of the world’s great wine regions, Tokaj offers distinctive wines that combine tradition, uniqueness, and outstanding quality, appealing to both collectors and adventurous wine enthusiasts.
