The 2024 Giant Steps Coal River Pinot Noir is a single-vineyard Tasmanian Pinot Noir sourced from the Nocton Vineyard, planted in 1999 in the Coal River Valley. The nose shows red and black cherry, blackberry and plum with violet, allspice, subtle undergrowth and earthy notes, reflecting the vineyard’s cool maritime climate and long ripening season.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied and gently plush, with concentrated cherry and dark fruit balanced by bright acidity and fine, structured tannins. The fruit was hand-picked, with partial whole-bunch fermentation before eight months in French oak, 25% new, adding subtle cedar and spice. The finish is long, savoury and finely defined.
