The 2022 Alain Jaume Domaine du Clos de Sixte Lirac is an organically farmed Southern Rhône red made from Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. Grown on Lirac’s clay-rich terraces scattered with rounded stones, it shows blackberry, cassis and ripe cherry with liquorice, garrigue, black olive and warm spice.
On the palate, it is medium-to-full bodied with generous dark fruit, balanced acidity and firm yet polished tannins. Blackberry and blackcurrant are layered with pepper, liquorice and subtle chocolate notes, while maturation in tank and barrel contributes gentle oak spice. The finish is long, savoury and well structured.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is a great choice for Rhône drinkers who enjoy Grenache-based reds with dark fruit, savoury herbs and structured tannins. Guide Hachette suggests a drinking window of 2027–2032, making it suitable for further bottle development. Pair with roast lamb, grilled beef, slow-cooked meats, stuffed vegetables or mature cheeses.
