A luscious dessert-style Hunter Valley Semillon from Andrew Thomas, sourced primarily from the famed Braemore Vineyard. Made without botrytis, the wine achieves its richness through concentrating the juice before fermentation, resulting in a fresh and vibrant sweet wine style. The nose shows marmalade, candied lemon, pineapple and tropical fruit alongside citrus blossom and lemon sherbet notes. There’s a bright lifted freshness that keeps the aromatics lively and inviting.
On the palate, it is rich and luscious with ripe tropical fruit, candied citrus and honeyed sweetness balanced by laser-like acidity. Full and textural without becoming heavy, finishing long, fresh and beautifully balanced.
Ben’s Recommendation:
A beautifully balanced modern dessert wine that showcases the versatility of Hunter Valley Semillon. Rich enough for desserts but fresh enough to enjoy with blue cheese or as an aperitif. Drink now lightly chilled or cellar through 2040+ for added complexity.
