The 2025 Ochota Barrels Surfer Rosa is a vibrant dry rosé from the Onkaparinga Hills in McLaren Vale, made predominantly from organically grown old-vine Grenache with 12% Gewürztraminer for aromatic lift. Pale salmon in colour, it shows fragrant lingonberry, cranberry and ripe strawberry alongside subtle spice and savoury notes.
On the palate, it is fresh and energetic with lively acidity, juicy red fruit and a snappy, gently textured feel. Hand-picked whole bunches were crushed directly into the press, then racked four days later to begin indigenous fermentation. The Gewürztraminer adds perfume while the Grenache provides bright fruit and structure, leading to a crisp, dry finish.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is an excellent choice for rosé drinkers who enjoy dry, vibrant styles with bright red fruit, fresh acidity and subtle savoury complexity. Best enjoyed young and well chilled. Ideal with grilled prawns, salmon, charcuterie, Mediterranean salads, antipasto, grilled chicken or lightly spiced dishes.
