The 2025 Mulline Single Vineyard Portarlington Chardonnay is a beautifully restrained cool-climate Chardonnay sourced from the Nurringa Park Vineyard, located just one kilometre from the shores of Port Phillip Bay on the Bellarine Peninsula. Planted in 1994 to the I10V1 Chardonnay clone, the vineyard's sandy loam over dark clay and ironstone soils, combined with strong maritime influence, produce a wine of exceptional purity and mineral tension. Whole-bunch pressed directly to French oak, naturally fermented on full solids and matured for eight months in barrel, with 20% new oak, the wine opens with elegant aromas of white peach, fresh honey and lemon zest layered with subtle matchstick, flint and sea spray minerality.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied with a beautifully fine texture, vibrant natural acidity and remarkable precision. White stone fruit, grapefruit and citrus peel are complemented by gentle oak, chalky minerality and a saline edge that reflects its coastal origins. The finish is long, focused and impeccably balanced, delivering freshness, finesse and outstanding persistence.
