The 2023 Voyager Estate Chardonnay is sourced from six certified organic vineyard blocks in Margaret River’s renowned Stevens Valley. The first complete Chardonnay release under winemaker Tim Shand, it reflects a shift towards greater precision and finesse, with hand-harvested fruit, wild fermentation, partial malolactic fermentation and nine months maturation in French oak.
The nose reveals Meyer lemon, nectarine, white flowers and subtle cedar and vanilla notes. The palate is layered and textural, combining citrus, stone fruit and flinty mineral characters with vibrant acidity and a chalky, savoury finish. Jane Faulkner awarded the wine 95 points, while Campbell Mattinson also scored it 95 points, describing it as the finest Voyager Chardonnay in many years.
Ben’s Recommendation:
A benchmark Margaret River Chardonnay that beautifully balances power, elegance and freshness. Its purity of fruit and mineral drive make it a superb match for lobster, scallops, grilled fish, roast chicken and creamy seafood dishes. Drinking beautifully now, but it has the structure and balance to evolve gracefully through 2032 and beyond.
