The 2023 Domaine Lignier-Michelot Morey-Saint-Denis En la Rue de Vergy is a particularly compelling 100% Pinot Noir from one of Morey-Saint-Denis' most fascinating village-level lieux-dits. En la Rue de Vergy sits high on the slope, immediately above the famous Grand Cru vineyards of Morey, with the domaine's parcel located just above Clos de Tart. The vines are approximately 50–55 years old, planted on thin, limestone-dominated hillside soils that naturally produce a more mineral, lifted and finely structured expression of Morey-Saint-Denis. This exceptional position has led the wine to be informally described as a "Baby Clos de Tart" - not an official classification, of course, but a useful indication of just how interesting the terroir is for a village wine.
