The 2023 Domaine de l'Arlot Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos de l'Arlot Blanc is a rare and elegant Chardonnay from the historic Clos de l'Arlot Monopole in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Burgundy. Sourced from limestone and marl soils within the walled vineyard, the wine is fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured for 12 months in French oak (around 20% new barrels) before further ageing in tank. The nose is refined and expressive, revealing aromas of ripe citrus, white peach and apricot, complemented by white flowers, flint and subtle mineral notes.
On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with vibrant acidity and a beautifully silky texture. Flavours of lemon, orchard fruit and ripe stone fruit are layered with chalky minerality and discreet oak, leading to a long, precise finish. The balance between freshness, richness and mineral tension makes this a distinctive white Burgundy with both immediate appeal and excellent cellaring potential.
Ben's Recommendation: At Wine More Cellars, this is an outstanding choice for lovers of rare white Burgundy with finesse, texture and remarkable precision. Pair it with lobster, turbot, roasted chicken with a cream sauce, langoustines or aged Comté. While already beautifully balanced, it is best enjoyed from 2027 onwards and will continue to develop gracefully over the next 12–15 years.
