The 2023 Camille Giroud Beaune 1er Cru Les Avaux is a refined Burgundy Pinot Noir from 45-year-old vines planted on deep clay over Jurassic limestone. The nose shows ripe red and dark fruit with rose, earthy forest notes and subtle coffee tones.
On the palate, it is concentrated yet fresh, with generous fruit, soft acidity and powdery tannins providing structure. The 2023 was fermented with 100% whole bunches and matured in a combination of new and older oak.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is a great choice for Burgundy drinkers who enjoy concentrated Pinot Noir with savoury complexity and fine structure. Best enjoyed from around 2028 through 2038. Ideal with roast duck, beef, lamb or mushroom dishes.
