The 2022 Penny's Hill Malpas Road Merlot is a single-vineyard McLaren Vale Merlot grown on the distinctive cracking black soils of the Malpas Road Vineyard. The nose shows dark plum, mulberry and blackcurrant with dried herbs, earthy notes, tobacco and gentle spice.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied and supple, with generous dark fruit supported by fine, structured tannins. 14 months in older French oak barriques adds subtle cedar and savoury complexity, leading to a dry, persistent finish.

At Wine More Cellars, this is a great choice for those who enjoy McLaren Vale Merlot with rich dark fruit, savoury character and balanced structure. Drinking well now with cellaring potential through around 2030. Ideal with roast beef, grilled lamb, mushroom dishes, braised meats or aged cheeses.
