Deep and perfumed, the 2022 Les Rugiens-Hauts opens with sweet wild berries, black cherry, raspberry, blackberry and plum, lifted by peony, rose petal, bergamot and blood orange. Exotic spice, forest leaves and a subtle stony character add complexity without obscuring the wine’s remarkably pure fruit.
The palate is medium to full-bodied, concentrated and layered, yet never heavy. A cool, lively core of red and dark fruit is carried by vibrant acidity and pronounced mineral tension, with exceptionally fine, powdery tannins providing seamless structure. The finish is long, floral and intensely perfumed, leaving lingering notes of berries, spice and crushed stone. A profound and highly refined Pommard built for extended ageing; ideally cellared until around 2030 and capable of developing through 2055.
