The 2022 Camille Giroud Beaune 1er Cru Les Avaux is sourced from a small estate-owned parcel in one of Beaune’s most highly regarded Premier Cru vineyards, situated on the southern slopes of the appellation. Planted on clay-rich soils with limestone influence, the site consistently produces Pinot Noir of generosity, perfume and structure. Under the guidance of winemaker David Croix, Camille Giroud has become one of Burgundy’s leading modern négociant-producers, combining meticulous vineyard work with a restrained, terroir-focused approach. In 2022, around 60% whole bunches were used, adding aromatic lift and complexity to the wine.
The nose reveals red cherry, raspberry and wild strawberry layered with dried rose petal, subtle spice and earthy undertones. The palate is silky yet structured, with vibrant red fruit, fine tannins and bright acidity providing excellent balance. The 2022 vintage brings impressive charm and purity, with a composed, elegant profile that avoids heaviness while retaining depth and concentration. Critics have noted its appeal, freshness and ageing potential, with reviews in the 93–94 point range.

A beautifully refined Beaune Premier Cru that showcases the elegance and approachability of the 2022 Burgundy vintage. Fragrant, polished and effortlessly drinkable, it pairs beautifully with duck, roast chicken, quail, mushroom dishes and veal. While approachable in its youth with a decant, it will reward patience and should evolve gracefully through 2037–2042.
