The 2021 Rocche Costamagna Barolo del Comune di La Morra DOCG is a vibrant and elegant Nebbiolo that captures the finesse and aromatic purity of La Morra in a highly regarded vintage. Produced from vineyards across the commune, it offers a classic yet approachable expression of Barolo. The nose is lifted and perfumed, with notes of red cherry, strawberry and rose petals, complemented by hints of violet, spice and light earthy undertones.
On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with fine, silky tannins and fresh acidity. Juicy red fruit, floral nuances and subtle savoury complexity are well balanced, leading to a refined, persistent and gently mineral finish. The style is polished and accessible in its youth, while still retaining the structure for mid-term ageing.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is a great entry point into Barolo from a top producer and an excellent vintage. It’s enjoyable with some decanting now or can be cellared for 8–12 years. Perfect with roast meats, pasta with ragù, mushroom dishes or aged cheeses.
