2018 S.c.pannell The Vale Shiraz Grenache
Smells like McLaren, Vale; earth, woody-herbs, iodine, dark red fruit, chocolate and dark spice. The palate starts with blackberry, and liquorice and finishes with sunkissed red brick and an umami character that lengthens the experience.
These two varieites unite to achieve a seamless medium bodied wine with a structured texture. The Grenache controls the mid-palate exuberance of the Shiraz and provides great length. The 2018 has more generous fruit than recent vintages providing immediate appeal, however the consistent mid-palate intensity makes for a very serious bottle of wine.
