The 2016 Vecchie Terre di Montefili Anfiteatro IGT Toscana is the estate's flagship single-vineyard Sangiovese, sourced from historic vines in Panzano, Chianti Classico. The nose is complex and expressive, revealing aromas of black cherry, wild blackberry and violet, complemented by notes of dried herbs, graphite, tobacco and subtle spice.
On the palate, it is full-bodied with vibrant acidity, refined tannins and impressive balance. Layers of dark cherry, red currant and blackberry are supported by savoury mineral notes and well-integrated oak, leading to a long, elegant finish. Carefully matured before release, the wine is approachable now with decanting and will continue to develop beautifully over the next 15–20 years.
Ben's Recommendation: At Wine More Cellars, this is an outstanding Tuscan Sangiovese for customers who appreciate structured, terroir-driven wines with excellent ageing potential. Pair it with bistecca alla Fiorentina, roast lamb, braised beef, wild boar ragù or aged Pecorino cheese.
