The estate comprises approximately 12 hectares of vineyards situated between 500 and 600 metres above sea level, making it one of the highest vineyard sites in Chianti Classico. The combination of Galestro and Alberese soils, excellent drainage, warm sunny days, and cool mountain nights allows Sangiovese to ripen slowly while retaining vibrant acidity, aromatic precision, and remarkable structure. The elevated vineyards consistently produce wines of freshness, elegance, and exceptional ageing potential.

Vecchie Terre di Montefili is best known for its Chianti Classico, Chianti Classico Gran Selezione, and the iconic Anfiteatro, a single-vineyard Sangiovese widely regarded as one of Tuscany's finest expressions of the variety. The wines display aromas of sour cherry, wild raspberry, violet, dried herbs, cedar, tobacco, and crushed stone, supported by vibrant acidity, finely woven tannins, and outstanding mineral complexity. They are classic examples of high-altitude Chianti Classico, balancing power with remarkable finesse.

The winery follows a philosophy of sustainable viticulture and minimal-intervention winemaking. Grapes are harvested by hand from low-yielding vineyards before undergoing careful selection. Fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts where possible, and the wines are matured in a combination of large Slavonian oak casks and French oak barrels, depending on the cuvée. Oak is used with restraint to preserve the purity of the fruit and the distinctive character of each vineyard.
