The 2015 Voyager Estate Cellar Release Cabernet Sauvignon is a special late-release bottling from one of Margaret River’s benchmark producers. Drawn primarily from the estate’s oldest Cabernet blocks, including Old Block and Block 12, the wine spent 18 months in French oak before being cellared at the winery for extended bottle ageing prior to release. The warm 2015 season delivered low yields and exceptional tannin ripeness, resulting in a Cabernet of concentration, elegance and longevity.
The nose reveals blackcurrant, mulberry and cassis layered with cedar, bay leaf, dark chocolate and graphite. Now entering a superb drinking window, the palate is refined and complex, with beautifully integrated oak, fine chalky tannins and impressive length. Campbell Mattinson awarded the wine 96 points, while Ray Jordan scored it 97 points, praising its balance, maturity and cellar-worthy structure.
Ben’s Recommendation:
A classic mature Margaret River Cabernet that showcases why Voyager Estate is regarded as one of Australia’s finest Cabernet producers. Complex, elegant and ready to enjoy, it pairs beautifully with roast lamb, beef fillet, venison and aged hard cheeses. Decant before serving and enjoy now through 2030, with enough structure to continue rewarding careful cellaring beyond that.
