XAVIER
Xavier Wines is the boutique wine project of Xavier Goodridge, a progressive and highly regarded young winemaker based in Victoria, Australia. His vineyard and label are rooted in Gippsland’s Maffra region — a cool-climate area where he farms a small, organically managed site that reflects a strong sense of place and purity in the wines.
Xavier acquired a long-term lease on a vineyard in Maffra in 2018, originally planted in the 1980s, and has been converting it to organic viticulture, focusing on soil health and sustainable farming practices. The 3–4 hectare estate is planted mainly to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, with additional plantings of Gamay, Chenin Blanc, and Sauvignon Blanc. Growing on sandy loam with sandstone and gravelly components, the site lends distinctive energy and structure to his wines.
His main range under the Xavier Wine label emphasizes minimal intervention winemaking: spontaneous ferments with native yeasts, little added sulphur, and ageing in large-format old French oak to allow the fruit and site character to shine. This “light touch” approach yields wines that are transparent to the vineyard’s influence and express elegance, liveliness, and nuanced texture.
Alongside the estate wines, Xavier also produces the PA PA range — sourced from premium growers in South West Victoria, including Mount Gambier and Henty — reflecting his broader philosophy of collaboration and terroir expression. His wines include varietals like Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, and Chardonnay, often praised for their clarity, balance, and pure fruit character.
Xavier (operated by Xavier Goodridge) stands out for its organically farmed Gippsland estate, minimalist winemaking, and site-driven Pinot Noir and Chardonnay — all crafted with a commitment to authenticity and sustainability.
