The 2024 Xavier Gippsland Pinot Noir is a vibrant and finely detailed cool-climate Pinot Noir from Xavier Goodridge’s Avon Vineyard near Maffra in Gippsland, Victoria. Xavier treats this as his "village" expression of the vineyard, blending fruit from the newer and grafted vines planted to MV6, Abel and 114 Pinot Noir clones. The fruit was hand-picked into small 15kg baskets, carefully hand-sorted and fully destemmed before fermentation. Rather than relying on small new-oak barrels, the wine was matured for 10 months in large 1,800-litre foudres, allowing the vineyard character and delicate Pinot fruit to remain at the centre of the wine.
