Founded in 2001 by renowned winemaking couple Sandra Tavares da Silva and Jorge Serôdio Borges, the estate has become one of the benchmark producers of the Douro, earning international recognition for its elegant, expressive wines.

The estate is centred around the historic Quinta da Manoella, a vineyard property with vines dating back more than a century. Located in the heart of the Douro Valley, the steep schist terraces overlook the Douro River, where warm days, cool nights, and dramatic elevation changes create ideal conditions for producing wines of exceptional concentration, freshness, and complexity.

Wine & Soul is best known for its Douro red wines, crafted from indigenous Portuguese varieties including Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Francisca, and Sousão. The wines display aromas of blackberry, black cherry, violet, wild herbs, graphite, spice, and dark chocolate. On the palate, they combine remarkable depth with freshness, silky tannins, and mineral precision, reflecting the unique schist soils of the Douro.

The winery also produces elegant white wines, premium Ports, and the highly sought-after Pintas and Pintas Character cuvées, which have become modern icons of Portuguese winemaking. These wines demonstrate the extraordinary quality that can be achieved from old mixed vineyards and meticulous vineyard management.

Wine & Soul follows a philosophy of sustainable viticulture, low yields, hand harvesting, and minimal intervention in the cellar. Traditional foot treading in granite lagares is still used for selected wines, preserving the authenticity of Douro winemaking while integrating modern techniques where appropriate.
