The 2022 G.D. Vajra Barolo Coste di Rose is a single-vineyard Nebbiolo from a steep, sandy site in the commune of Barolo. Its distinctive Diano sandstone soils shape an aromatic expression, with red cherry, cranberry and strawberry alongside violet, rose, fresh mint, orange zest and sweet spice.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied and elegant with lively acidity, juicy red fruit and fine, granular tannins. A 47-day maceration builds structure before 22 months in large Slavonian oak casks, preserving the wine’s floral character and freshness. The finish is long and mineral-driven, with red fruit and crushed-stone notes.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is a great choice for Barolo drinkers who enjoy fragrant Nebbiolo with silky tannins, savoury detail and mineral structure. Enjoy with decanting when young or cellar for further development. Pair with mushroom risotto, truffle pasta, braised beef, roast lamb or aged cheeses.
