The 2019 Vega Sicilia Valbuena 5º is a benchmark Ribera del Duero wine and the purest expression of Tempranillo (Tinto Fino) from the estate, blended with a small proportion of Merlot and aged for five years before release. It represents a more accessible yet still highly serious counterpart to Unico, combining depth, elegance and precision.
The nose is perfumed and layered, showing black cherry, blackberry and plum, alongside violet, cedar, tobacco and subtle spice. Additional complexity emerges with notes of cocoa, balsamic and dried herbs, reflecting both high-quality fruit and extended ageing.
On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with a seamless, polished texture and fine, silky tannins. Dark fruit, spice and mineral notes are supported by fresh acidity, leading to a long, elegant and savoury finish. The 2019 vintage is particularly noted for its balance and finesse, achieved through gentle extraction and a focus on freshness rather than power.

At Wine More Cellars, this is one of the most important wines in the Vega Sicilia lineup - often considered the "sweet spot" between accessibility and prestige. It delivers much of the DNA of Unico, but in a slightly more approachable, earlier-drinking style. Compared to Pintia or Alion, it is more refined, layered and classic. Compared to Unico, it is more immediate and fruit-driven. Drink with decanting now or cellar for 15–25+ years. Perfect with lamb, beef, game or fine dining occasions.
