The 2022 G.D. Vajra Barolo Albe is a traditional Piedmont Nebbiolo blended from high-elevation Barolo vineyards between 380 and 480 metres. Fragrant and detailed, it shows rose petals, red cherry and wild strawberry with blood orange, cedar, juniper and delicate floral notes.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied and energetic with bright acidity, juicy red fruit and refined, silky tannins. An extended maceration of around 36 days builds structure before 22 months in large Slavonian oak casks, preserving freshness while adding savoury depth. The finish is long, mineral and finely structured.
Ben's Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is a great choice for Barolo drinkers who enjoy aromatic Nebbiolo with fine tannins and traditional structure. Approachable now with decanting, it also has excellent potential to develop through the next decade. Pair with mushroom risotto, slow-cooked beef, roast lamb, truffle pasta or aged cheeses.
