A diverse and complex mix spice, earth, wet rock, raw meat, blue and red fruits that oscillate between super ripe and snappy. Lots of sweet and savoury characters form the core of this beautifully framed, sumptuous and alluring expression of Cornas. Ample concentration here but it feels upbeat and almost light on its feet, for a wine with so much supressed power. The tannins have that grit and grip we need to see from this place, but they are perfectly ripe and balanced by the abundance of crushed berry fruit that saturates the mid palate. Throughout it all are the darker, brooding, raw elements of Cornas, a prominent sanguine aspect tinges things and the deeply earthy minerality surges up to greet the rest of the wine as it comes towards the lengthy finale that is a swirling array of all the elements that compose this classically wild and beautiful wine.
