The 2021 Lark Hill Vineyard Shiraz Viognier is a cool-climate Canberra District red from the biodynamically certified Dark Horse Vineyard in Murrumbateman. Made from 96% Shiraz and 4% Viognier, it shows raspberry, wild strawberry and Morello cherry with rhubarb, white pepper, earthy spice and subtle floral lift.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied and energetic with juicy acidity, fine tannins and vibrant red fruit. The Viognier is co-picked and co-fermented with the Shiraz, followed by 12 months in French oak puncheons, adding texture and gentle spice while retaining the freshness of the cool-climate fruit.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is a great choice for Shiraz drinkers who enjoy fragrant, savoury reds with peppery spice and fine structure. Drinking well now, with a suggested window through around 2029. Pair with roast lamb, grilled beef, charcuterie, mushroom dishes or slow-cooked tomato-based dishes.
