COONAWARRA
Coonawarra is one of Australia’s most famous wine regions, located in the Limestone Coast of South Australia, near the border with Victoria. Internationally recognised for its exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon, Coonawarra has built a reputation for producing some of the country’s most structured, age-worthy red wines.
The region is defined by its unique Terra Rossa soils—a narrow strip of rich red soil over limestone—which provides excellent drainage and contributes to the distinctive character of Coonawarra wines. Combined with a cool maritime climate, these conditions allow for slow, even ripening and the development of intense flavour and structure.
Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon is known for its blackcurrant, cassis and plum flavours, often accompanied by notes of mint, eucalyptus, cedar and fine tannins. The wines typically show excellent balance and long ageing potential, making them a benchmark for Australian Cabernet.
