Pewsey Vale – Eden Valley Riesling Specialist

Pewsey Vale Vineyard is one of Australia’s most historic wineries, located in the cool-climate Eden Valley region of South Australia. The vineyard was first established in 1847 by Joseph Gilbert, making it the earliest vineyard planted in Eden Valley and one of the pioneering sites for Australian Riesling.Situated at around 500 metres above sea level, the elevated vineyard benefits from cooler temperatures and a longer ripening season, conditions that are ideal for producing vibrant, aromatic Riesling with precision and natural acidity.

Today, Pewsey Vale is renowned as a single-vineyard Riesling specialist, focusing entirely on crafting wines that express the purity and minerality of Eden Valley terroir. The winery’s flagship wines—including Estate Riesling, 1961 Block Riesling, and The Contours Riesling—have helped establish Pewsey Vale as one of Australia’s benchmark producers of dry Riesling.

With a long history, exceptional vineyard site, and dedication to a single variety, Pewsey Vale wines remain among the most respected examples of Eden Valley Riesling, known for their freshness, elegance, and remarkable ageing potential.
