The 2008 Paolo Scavino Barolo Riserva “Bric dël Fiasc” is a flagship single-vineyard Nebbiolo from Castiglione Falletto, released as a special Riserva bottling to mark the 30th anniversary of this historic cru. It represents one of the purest expressions of Barolo terroir, combining power, precision and long-term ageing potential.

The nose is intensely complex and evolving, showing black cherry, plum and cassis, layered with espresso, incense, tobacco and crushed rock minerality. With time in the glass, tertiary notes of leather, balsamic and spice emerge, reflecting both extended ageing and Nebbiolo’s natural complexity.

On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with a remarkably silky yet structured texture. Waves of dark fruit, spice and mineral notes are supported by fine, noble tannins and vibrant acidity, delivering both richness and precision. The finish is long, layered and powerful, with a balance that allows the wine to evolve for decades.

Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is a true collector’s Barolo Riserva — a museum-release wine that sits firmly in the top tier of Piedmont fine wine. It’s ideal for customers who appreciate aged Bordeaux, Grand Cru Burgundy or top Nebbiolo with tertiary complexity and structure. Compared to younger Barolo, this is not about fruit — it’s about evolution, texture and depth. A rare opportunity to drink a perfectly cellared Riserva at or near peak. Best enjoyed now with extended decanting, or continue cellaring for another 10–20+ years. Perfect with truffle dishes, braised beef, game or fine dining occasions.
