Oates Ends is a boutique winery located in Wilyabrup, the heart of Margaret River, founded by acclaimed winemaker Cath Oates. The label represents Cath's return home after more than two decades of international winemaking experience across Australia, Italy, New Zealand, and the United States. Named after the very first barrel of wine made from grapes left at the ends of vineyard rows, Oates Ends is a story of family, sustainability, and a deep connection to the Oates family's Wilagri Vineyard.

The Wilagri Vineyard was first planted in 1999 on the renowned gravelly loam soils of Wilyabrup, one of Margaret River's most celebrated subregions. Family-owned and managed by Cath's brother, viticulturist Russ Oates, the vineyard produces Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, Semillon, and Sauvignon Blanc. The maritime climate, warm days, cool Indian Ocean breezes, and deep free-draining gravel soils provide ideal conditions for producing wines of elegance, structure, and remarkable purity.

Oates Ends is best known for its Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, and Tempranillo Rosé, alongside its unique The G.W.B. white blend. The Chardonnay is barrel fermented with extended lees ageing, delivering layers of citrus, stone fruit, hazelnut, and refined oak. Cabernet Sauvignon displays classic Margaret River notes of cassis, blackberry, cedar, and fine tannins, while the Tempranillo offers vibrant cherry fruit, savoury herbs, silky tannins, and refreshing acidity. The wines consistently balance concentration with finesse and outstanding drinkability.

Sustainability is central to the winery's philosophy. Oates Ends is an accredited member of Sustainable Winegrowing Australia, employing regenerative farming practices including cover crops, compost, grazing sheep for weed control and leaf plucking, and avoiding herbicides wherever possible. The winery operates on rainwater, is transitioning to solar power, and uses environmentally conscious packaging. In the cellar, Cath adopts a light-touch approach using classical winemaking techniques to preserve the pure expression of the Wilagri Vineyard.
