The 2024 Dr Loosen Wehlener Sonnenuhr GG is a dry Mosel Riesling from old vines grown on the steep, blue-slate slopes of the renowned Wehlener Sonnenuhr vineyard. The nose is finely aromatic, showing white peach, green apple and quince with fresh citrus and a distinctive salty slate character.
On the palate, it is dry and precise with bright acidity, fresh orchard fruit and citrus supported by a fine mineral structure. The shallow, stony blue-slate soils give the wine its characteristic freshness and saline edge, leading to a long, elegant and focused finish.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is a great choice for Riesling drinkers who enjoy refined, dry Mosel wines with bright acidity and pronounced mineral character. Serve around 8–10°C and pair with grilled fish, veal, seafood, salads with citrus dressing, Mediterranean pasta or cheese, or cellar for further development.
