Ministry of Clouds is a boutique Australian winery founded in 2012–2013 by Julian Forwood and Bernice Ong, a husband-and-wife team with deep experience in the wine industry who left corporate careers to make wine on their own creative terms. The label is based in McLaren Vale, South Australia, but it also sources fruit from other premium regions such as Clare Valley for Riesling and Tasmania for cool-climate Chardonnay.
Their philosophy centres on minimal intervention and letting high-quality fruit speak for itself. They emphasise bright natural acidity, purity of fruit, and wines that express their place and vintage without heavy winemaker influence. Ministry of Clouds often works with trusted growers and small parcels of fruit — including some very old vineyards — and crafts wines in small batches that reflect balance, texture, and clarity.
Ministry of Clouds wines have garnered critical praise in Australia and abroad for their distinct style — often described as energetic, precise and expressive of both grape and region.
